Co-workers

Why are co-workers so strange?  One day, they're nice to you.  The next day, they're ignoring you.  One day they're talking to you.  The next day, they're avoiding you?  They never want to share what they're teaching though you're supposed to when co-teaching.  Some never smile or say "hi" to you.  Others are just fickle.  You can't seem to trust them, even though they say can be trusted.

Why is the working world this way?  If we're all worried about our job, would sharing and working together make our position more secure?

Maybe, co-workers don't like to share because they feel that you might steal their ideas.  But, in the teaching world, as I was told, sharing is good.  Teachers are unpaid and overworked.  So stealing is okay.  Also, it's good to have friends/ a friend at work.  Why is the working world an unfriendly place to be?  If we're there for the same reason, wouldn't it be better to work together, so that goal is achieved instead of being strayed.
